It’s early in the morning. I’ve just made my morning coffee and I’m appreciating my slow mornings again. I love spending time with Paris and Georgie but I’m happy to have my mornings to myself again, doing things at my own pace!
My mornings are fairly simple. I wake up at 7am, make breakfast, prepare Georgie’s lunch for school and take him to school. When I get back, I water the garden flowers and trees, make sure our pups have got water and then I’m off to my kitchen. I put on my favourite tunes (this morning Lord Huron) and I make my coffee and sit for a while on our balcony until I start my day with other things!
It was kind of hard when schools were closed. Mornings were weird and everything was quick, quick , quick….wake up, eat breakfast, do things around the house, get homework done and then Georgie would connect at 2pm. Argh! Stressful! Luckily our Easter break came just in time and we got two weeks to decompress and just hang out around the house and in the garden.
Easter Sunday was so much fun! We had our family over and we barbecued and had an amazing day! It was so nice having people over! I have a whole other appreciation for our outdoor space and I intend this summer to get more use of it.
I want to have more friends over, I want to make dinner and just sit in the garden and really enjoy it! I never really appreciated our outdoor space. We would always dine out with friends. That’s changed for me now….of course I look forward to dining out but I’m also looking forward to garden get togethers.
Schools are open again and the struggle to adjusting to the rhythm of it all is real!
I’m not just talking about Georgie….I mean the struggle is on everyone’s face! The parents that drop off their kiddos, the teachers, the principal! I ran into this mom that I know and she said to me as she was enjoying her coffee at a cafe one morning, “I’m done with this school year! Can it be over already?”
So, yeah! Struggle! I can’t blame them! It’s May and on most days it’s 35 degrees! I think we’re all ready for beach days!
I’m happy though that kids are back at school! They are in the environment. Kids need to be around their friends, teachers, classmates….also, recess, laughter, sunlight, outdoor activities….all of it!
Even though the adjusting was a bit difficult in the beginning, I see a lot of smiling faces when I pick Georgie up from school!
I’m still reorganising some things around the house. I have to tackle our closets soon! I think it’ll be a perfect opportunity to also get rid of things that I no longer wear also!
I need to do some shopping for Georgie….the kid is almost as tall as I am….so he needs new everything!
I want to update my summer clothes and bit….I want to invest in more key pieces….something along the line of that classic, timeless feel. I still haven’t decided on anything just yet. I do have some things in mind but I’m still exploring!
I’m wishing you all a fantastic week!
