Writer’s Notes, 03.10
“Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.”
Hi and happy autumn! The season has shifted here—the air is soft and crisp in the mornings, the light has embodied the golden hues that autumn brings and I can feel us slowly finding our rhythm again after the swirl of summer.
This quote spoke to me as I began writing Notes. It’s giving me the realisation that the world needs our love, enthusiasm, passions and to voice all the things that fire us up….otherwise it’ll be gone and the appreciation for all our curiosities and passions will disappear. Let’s not allow this world to rid us of them.
Lately
It’s seems lately I’ve been writing only Notes on the blog, from one month to the next. And honestly—I don’t feel bad about it. There’s something comforting about showing up here, checking in, sharing what the season feels like. There’s a slowness I feel in my soul that I can’t quite explain. I feel no urgency. No rush. No pressure to chase every idea or follow every spark of curiosity to completion. I’m no longer caught up in the social pressure of constantly performing just to keep up—to be seen, to stay relevant, to not be left behind. That kind of pace is exhausting and it no longer serves me.
I realised this more clearly during the stretch of the quiet afternoons when I was forced to slow down—my back was in pain and I couldn’t do much of anything and yet, my mind kept racing through all the things I “needed” to get done. That tension between stillness and pressure taught me something—maybe embracing the slow rhythms of life isn’t just a stance, it’s a way of being.
That doesn’t necessarily mean I’ll be away from online spaces—if anything, I love connecting with you all. But I’m learning how to show up from a different pace. The thing that works for me is going with the flow of things—without urgency, without force. Letting life unfold as it wants to and allowing myself to meet it.
I’ve been allowing my curiosities to lead me wherever they will, without needing to shape them into something productive.
These thoughts have given me inspiration about how I want to move forward with sharing what’s truly in my heart. ‘You have to create, to show the world everything in your heart—the way you see and feel the world.” I scribbled this down one morning in the margin notes of my morning pages—it felt like a whisper of purpose. A reminder that this, too, is part of how I live—a reflection of my stance toward life.
Creating, writing, capturing moments…not to perform or prove, but to express. To connect. To leave a trail of beauty behind.
On the agenda
July brings a few sweet celebrations—our wedding anniversary, Paris’ name day and my birthday! They’re all scattered across the month, adding a sense of excitement to our midsummer days. We don’t have big plans, but I find myself looking forward to each one. We’re the kind of people who love impromptu plans. We follow the mood and see where the day takes us.
For my birthday, I’ve been toying with the idea of a little garden party—something simple and joyful. Pet Nat rosé, homemade pizzas, a cake with fresh fruit and a table under the trees surround by the people I love. All my favourite things!
Even more exciting, my sister and her family are flying in this month! We’ve planned a few days away with both our families and there’s a growing sense of anticipation in our house. I’m already picturing catching up over morning coffee, fun beach days, long lunches and evenings that stretch out into the night with refreshing beverages and chats. I love it when my family and I can get to hang out together in this way. It’s the epitome of carefreeness!
Looking ahead to these celebrations that are to come, I can’t help but think of the clothes I’ll wear to match the mood—pieces that feel elevated and effortless. Garments that embody the Mediterranean living—natural fibres that breathe, silhouettes that move with you and styles that feel both practical and beautiful in the heat. I’ll be sharing more of these finds for anyone that is interested! I’m thinking small capsule edits and curated finds. Easy pieces with a timeless feel.

Q: What are you currently reading or listening to?
I’m currently reading two books—Travels in the Southern Peloponnese by Patrick Leigh Fermor and Scaffolding by Lauren Elkin which I just recently picked up because of its beautiful cover. Sometimes I like going totally blind in books and movies. No expectations, no reviews, no pressure to love it. I also recently listened to Rick Rubin’s podcast episode with Gwyneth Paltrow.
Q: Any tips for embracing slow living in a busy world?
Start small. Choose one thing—your morning coffee, a walk, a few minutes to yourself of stillness before your day begins—give it your full attention. Gradually, these moments build into a rhythm that feels natural and nourishing.
Q: What are your favourite simple meals to make when it’s too hot to cook?
Kagiana—it’s an easy simple dish make with eggs, tomatoes and olive oil. So good! I also like to make homemade fries and a greek salad. Simple and nourishing!
Q: Is there a ritual or rhythm you’ve held onto from your life in Canada?
There are a few things I’ve carried with me from Canada—not so much formal rituals but gentle reminder of home. Warm coffee in the mornings, even on a hot summer’s day. The anticipation of autumn—though the weather in southern Greece is quite different, I still find myself looking forward to the cooler days when we can hike through the woods and admire the golden light and turning leaves. I think often of those cosy Canadian moments: curling up in bed with a book, warm soups (greek people are astonished with our love of a good soup!), cosy slippers and flannel pyjamas. It’s an excitement that never really leaves you.
