Soft warm lighting, an intimate atmosphere, fresh flowers, books, layers of natural elements, beautiful textiles, spaces that evoke a sense of warmth and sophistication—this is what how I want every room in our home to feel like.

Curating a home with pieces and elements that coincide with personal taste can sometimes be a bit of challenge. My home style decor has gone through quite a few changes over the years—there’s been lots of experimenting, not to mention trial and errors! When it comes to styling our home, I’ve learnt to be patient. Over time I’ve trained my eyes to take note of what I gravitate towards so that I stay true to the design essence I love.

Being a cinephile, the Nancy Meyers aesthetic is what I aspire our home to be like; lately, I’ve been smitten by Carley Summer. Her design style and aesthetic has captivated me and has had me dreaming of the moment when we get to renovate our country home! Although we are still in the blueprint stages of our country home renovation, the aesthetic of Carley’s home is what aspiring for in our current home come spring!

It’s all in the details!

I’m a firm believer that it doesn’t matter what a space looks like or how big it is so that you can love your home. When looking through designer books, movies, Pinterest…it’s the details in the pieces that have been collected, the curtains, table lamps or how a coffee table is styled, curtains, light fixtures…the details that stands out for me! Those finishing touches that bring a space to life and can be easily implemented in any home!

The home projects that are on my to-do list come spring aren’t anything drastic since we are renting our current home but nevertheless, home is home and it’s important to love where you live!

Kitchen

The current kitchen backsplash is an outdated 80s colour of brownish-beige and in contrast with the cherry-brown cupboards, it makes the space feel really moody and bleak. Far from the aesthetic I’m drawn to! I’ve found these adhesive tiles that look like white textured bricks which Paris has already started on and it already looks so much better! New window treatment, stainless steel kitchen hood and then the fun part, kitchen vignettes with cookbooks, table lamps, cutting boards…maybe even a little coffee corner!

Bedrooms

Our kiddos room is the space that’s really going to change up. New bed, new desk, new carpet…plans are to create a teen’s den! As for our bedroom, I’m thinking of painting it a creamy white colour, it’s currently a lighter shade of this, new light fixture (definitely vintage), curtain rods and crisp sheets! Freshing things up is the goal!

Balcony/Garden

Our outdoor spaces need the most work come spring with all the pruning, grass cutting, repotting…but I look forward to it because once it’s done, afternoons basking in sunshine and hosting becomes the highlight of spring! I’ve been looking for a new table and chairs and I’m even considering a little lounge area. So excited to get started!

Since Carley Summers home is in the inspiration for this post, I’m sharing some of my home saves that I’ve been eyeing that’ll give our spaces the essence I’m going for! xxx
