Notes 02.23
February—the final stretch of winter! It surely made its entrance with much snow and colder temperatures. Nevertheless, it’s still an idyllic time to lean more into the cosiness of the winter and revel in the warmth of our home.
Calendar
This section on my monthly notes sets a list of intentions for the month ahead! No need for extravagant plans. Inserting and planning acts of mindful living is truly what I strive for so life doesn’t pass us by! The simplest things fill my soul!
Brunch with friends / Date nights / Pizza friday & movie night with my guys/ Day trips / A day at the beach / Spa day / New recipes
Lately
Staying consistent with my workout goals has had a profound effect on my overall well-being! I have included a Tabata class on Wednesdays and although it’s quite challenging, I’m sticking to it! I’m making more soups these days—my kind of winter comfort food! But it’s not the only things I cook as I live with lions and they like more hearty food! ha ha ha!
Books on my Nightstand | My TBR list keeps getting longer and longer! After listening to this podcast interview with Rick Rubin—I bought his book The Creative Act: A Way of Being and I cannot wait to dive into it! If I’m not listening to a podcast episode in the morning, I read a book. Currently it’s Hold on to Your Kids and in the evenings, I curled up in bed with Our Missing Hearts.
On another book note—if you’re into that 70s scene with Fleetwood Mac vibes, read Daisy Jones & the Six! One of my most favourite books and in March, a HelloSunshine TV series! So excited about this one!
Movies/Series | Top Gun: Maverick & Elvis—I’ll watch these movies again and again! Watching Truth Be Told and Shrinking on AppleTV and Dead to Me on Netflix. Also downloaded The Chosen app on my phone and sometimes I watch an episode before I go to sleep.
Thoughts
I’ve been thinking a lot about creativity these days and what it takes to be considered a creative person. So, I did a little research on it and found this…
“ Creative people like to daydream and imagine the possibilities and wonders of the world. They can immerse themselves in imagination and fantasy, yet remain grounded enough to turn their daydreams into reality. They are often described as dreamers, but that doesn’t mean that they live with their heads in the clouds.”
Beautifully said! I’ve had my reservations about being considered a creative person. But after reading this excerpt, it couldn’t describe me any better! On whatever I set my thoughts/heart on, it attunes with emotion and expressiveness. It’s what lights me up. It’s a part of me and it’s my creative side! So, be in search of your *hidden gems, as Elizabeth Gilbert says!
Creativity is in all of us. We’ve just got tap more into it!
