“there is a kind of beauty in the growth. slow down.” —alison malee
June—it’s officially summer! We are eagerly waiting for school to end cause it feels like it’s taken a toll on us this year. The struggle post pandemic was real!
Thoughts
On last month’s Notes, I talked about growth and how I find myself in a whole different place. I’ve slowed down more. I’ve disconnected from things that don’t coincide with my values. I thought that maybe there was something “off” with me. And then this quote really resonated with how I’m feeling as of late. All my energy and focus is entirely on my family. My goal always was and still is to help my son, in the best way I can, to thrive. Ever since Georgios started high school, he seems so much more independent and mature. He’s taken an initiative on figure things out for himself and I love that! So, I’ve stepped back—on the side lines per se! He makes me so proud! 🥲
In turn, not having my focus solely on him has changed something within me. Can’t really explain it. Motherhood has changed me over and over again. I’ve learnt about strengths. My fears. I’ve grown. I’ve slowed down. I’m figuring things out and I’m taking my time—and there IS a kind of beauty in that!
Calendar
Really excited about this year’s Weekend Getaway. Something we’ve been for doing years! A little getaway by the ocean just moms and kiddos. Definitely the perfect way to start summer holidays. Until then, it’s work and revision with the kiddo.
It being his first exam period, I’m helping him out more these days. For G, it’s all about having the confidence of expressing the things he knows. Once he finds that, he does really well!
I told Paris that from now on we’ll be doing more date nights! Just to change our weekly scenarios now and then! 😊
Lately
I’ve been more consistent with my workouts and eating habits and it feels so good! I try to work out at least three times a week and lately salads are what I crave the most! Been making my own version of a greek salad with chickpeas and carob rusks—delish! I’ll share the recipe soon!
Books on my nightstand —City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert (two chapters to go!)
It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover and I’m saving Eat Pray Love for our getaway! I’ve seen the movie so many times but haven’t read the book—it’s time!
Movies & Shows —Last week we saw Top Gun: Maverick at the theatres and I have to say it was a really good movie! We loved it!
I’m a huge Stranger Things fan—saw the first part of season 4 in less than a week! Part two coming soon! Currently watching Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix—like it so far!
