“To make living itself an art, that is the goal.“
August—’the Sunday of summer’, as they say. And somehow that’s exactly how it feels. The morning light feels a little softer. Summer’s rhythms feel to be subsiding just a bit. Even the hum of the cicadas has softened. There’s a slight breeze in the mornings now—cool, refreshing and so welcoming after the stretch of heatwaves we’ve been having. I find myself enjoying my balcony again with my French pressed coffee—my first cup is always warm, even in summer—and it feels like a small luxury to enjoy it without the weight of the heat. A little window of calm.
It’s the month of the in-betweens—still in the thick of heat and sea swims, yet catching hints of what’s to come next.
Lately
Life lately has been quite eventful as I like to call it. My sister and her family were vacationing here and it’s been such a joy to spend time with them. Our days were filled with impromptu plans, beach days followed by spontaneous outings, slow dinners and late night chats. The only thing that we did plan was a little getaway with both our families in Kalamata. It’s a place that beautifully blends city life and seaside charm. Our mornings consisted of picking up freshly baked pastries, freddo espressos and morning swims. We made it point to incorporate a little siesta time before heading out for the evening and luckily we did! Those little naps had us refreshed and rested to enjoy the rest of our day! Then it was seaside dining, drinks and sunsets. Simple, soulful and fun! Saying goodbye is never easy, but I’m glad we go to spend this time together. We’re already talking about the next time we’ll be together!
In between the beach days and getaways, our summer evenings have been alive with musical nights in the plateia, river parties and festivals bringing people together. It’s a classic summer feeling. As the sun starts to set, families head out after the heat of the day, children running around, neighbours catching up and everyone savouring the cool breeze. It’s a rhythm of summer—simple, collective and sweetly familiar.
On the agenda
My other two sisters are flying in from Canada and it looks like we’re in for another four days of pure fun! I’m so excited! They’re hoping to spend most of their time in Athens, so I’m preparing a few city days filled with good food, shopping and sister moments. Sister time is truly valued and I’m planning on soaking it all! I’ve got a few spots in mind—walk through Plaka and Anafiotika, The Acropolis Museum, rooftop brunch spots, coffee at Dope Roasting Co., cosy dinner at Nolan. Athens caters to everyone—whether for the buzz, the culture, the flavours or just a slow stroll.
Then, on the agenda, I’ll be easing my way back to my blog and my Substack Newsletter. I’ve missed the rhythms of writing and sharing with you all. I’m looking forward to reconnecting here through reflections, stories and the beauty found in the everyday life.

Savouring the last bit of the Summer
As we are entering the last stretch of summer, here are a few things I’m going to savour and enjoy in this season before life starts to feel a little different again.
morning coffee on the balcony | hanging laundry in the sun | slow mornings with the kiddo | swims and barefoot walks on the sand | dining at sunset | the hum of cicadas | watermelon straight from the fridge | picking figs from my neighbour’s tree | rosé and pizza at lunchtime |
Wishing you calm days, full hearts and small joys wherever you are.
Thanks for being here!
