September…where does time go? I woke up this morning by the cooler morning breeze coming in from the shutters as I curled up under our sheet thinking that from now on I’ll need to keep a quilt at the end of our bed for mornings like these.
It’s been a minute! But it feels great to be back on my laptop. I haven’t written Notes in a while as I got sidetracked by a state where I was questioning everything…my purpose…my why. Although there was a surge of ‘summer blog posts’ on my to-do list, my heart wasn’t in it. So, I allowed myself to disconnect. I say allowed because there was a fear that by disconnecting from the online world, I wouldn’t be progressing more towards my goals. I put my fear a side and did just what my heart, mind and body needed.
Over the last six weeks, I focused more on the things that brought contentment and peace of mind. This time away grounded me and helped me to reconnect with the one thing that I’m greatly passionate about…the Mediterranean ethos. It’s having a connection with God and living a life with intention; it’s savouring the slow pace of life and its simple pleasures…it’s the deep connection to the land. This where my inspiration resides, the pillars of my why…the origin Art of Life. Somewhere, somehow insecurities and comparison killed creativity and I forgot about the elements that inspire me. So, I’m surrendering to my thoughts so that I can enter a state which will enable me to be more creative, more productive without reservations and doubts. No better time than now as September always felt to me like the perfect month for a fresh start…a time to set new goals, make new resolutions…just like the beginning of a new year!
Summer Recap
We kicked off the beginning of July with our trip to Rome—what a dream! It was our first time in Italy and we immediately fell in love. Anywhere I looked, something took my breath away…an open museum! A blog post for our trip is underway so, stay tuned! Our summer weekends were for mini getaways with friends visiting from different places; beach days, patio nights for dinner and drinks, summer concerts (Georgios’ first!)…there was constantly something to look forward to which gave our summer an easy, fulfilling feeling to it.
On the Calendar
We went to a wedding over the weekend and since it was an out of town wedding, we turned it into yet another mini getaway by staying the night in a hotel and made plans to spend our Sunday with some beloved friends. We’ve got one more wedding this month and I think our mini getaways will come to an end. We’re also going to Imagine Dragons’ concert this week and I’m so excited! I cannot believe we’re going to hear them live!
I few home updates are in the works this month! I’ve been contemplating for a while to freshen up our kitchen space so, I’m seizing the opportunity while I’m in the mood and I’m just going to get it done! I want to paint our backsplash is a nice cream colour, update our window treatment, get some floating shelves and maybe a new kitchen table. A little something to get me to love that space again! My goal is to make the spaces in our home feel more in order, welcoming, complete…our home felt like a beach house during the summer; a little organising and structure does good to my overall well-being.
Things I’m looking forward to…
I’m someone who looks forward to the change of seasons but the wind-down season has my heart! So, autumn has me looking forward to…soft knits, cosy socks, candles…crisp mornings and soft, golden sunrises…blankets and throws scattered in cosy corners…curling up in bed with a good book…movies nights at home…hot chocolate & warm soups…jazz music in the kitchen…
