Notes 11.22

Sweet November—one of my most favourite months! Those crisp autumn mornings, jazz music in playing the background, all the layers of cosiness; the sense of quietude that this month brings—I savour this month the most! I love how our home becomes the heart of it all. It’s a time for all those warm comfort food recipes and Sunday afternoons are for those ‘feel good’ movies curled up on the sofa—Nancy Meyers movie season!

Calendar

Reorganising and decluttering are on the agenda this month. I like doing it this time of the year since I’m pulling out different fall/winter items….one fell swoop and it’s all done! I’ve also noticed that it gives me more clarity once its done and I’m much calmer and more ready to take on the Christmas season! I’ll be reorganising things on the blog as well so, stayed tuned!

There is a long weekend coming up for us here and I’m hoping for a little family getaway. But like I’ve said, we’re into those spur-of-the-moment kind of plans; we go with whatever feels right. No stress whatsoever!

Lately

‘Lost in the translation’ is the state we’re living in as of late with our teen. There is this constant back and forth of things, outbursts, emotions….and to be honest, it’s kind of stressful at times; parenting feels different these days.  The only thing I found that helps is giving him space and picking my battles. I read somewhere, ‘Conflict with your teenager isn’t a bad thing, your teenager is learning to become independent.’ It was reassuring to read that! On a positive note, I’m glad that there are still moments that we spend time together and he’s still into family movie night—we might be doing something right! *fingers crossed

Books on my nightstand | I’m currently reading The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave and I’ve also got Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom—I order this book right after hearing an interview on Oprah’s Super Soul podcast.  I’m still waiting on a few other books to arrive from my last amazon order. Shorter days call for more reading. I love curling up in bed after a long day with a good book, it’s so relaxing!

TV | From Scratch on Netflix—love love love! I felt as if I was experiencing every single emotion with the main characters! I laughed and I cried a lot! It’s an absolutely beautiful love story! Although I’m a person who enjoys anything whether it’s a series or a movie, Paris on the other hand only does movies!  The Good Nurse was really good and on our family movie night, we watched Free Guy—such a fun and interesting movie!

Friendly Note | With the holiday season coming up, the stress of doing it all sometimes gets the best of me so, I’m making it my priority not to forget to slow down, rest and just enjoy it! A little something I tell myself just so I don’t get overwhelmed is, one thing at a time, one room at a time, one task at a time and everything just flows better!

Happy November everyone!
