Writer’s Notes, 11.11

Sweet November! The month with the most soul is my absolute favourite! Autumn in Southern Greece has a subtle touch. Its charm lies in the crisp mornings, the golden hues of on the coastline, the red golden leaves of the grape vines as they indicate the end of summer’s harvest and the colder days ahead. In the countryside, the sombre hues of the trees indicate the change of season and the only distinct colour of orange stands out amidst the groves. November brings a collective sense of devising for colder days ahead. Summer gardens are cleared out, rugs are laid out, fire wood is neatly stacked outside doorways awaiting for those ambient evenings by the fire. Every season heralds its own dreamy scenes, transforming the world around us and I’m all for romanticising every bit of it!

Lately

Autumn in Greece is the most idyllic time of the year for enjoying the outdoors comfortably! Coffee dates, Sunday drives by the coast, balcony hangs and al fresco dining have been a balm to my soul! The gentleness of this season brings me back to life! I relish in my favourite morning routine again with moments of quietude before my day begins. I sit at our bistro table in the office with a warm cup of coffee, sunshine on my face, reading my daily scriptures and writing my morning pages. This time of my day has become quite essential. It soothes my soul and allows me to hear myself. I’ve found that inserting moments of stillness in my day can be quite cathartic and easily achievable with the simplest things like going for a walk, reading, getting a massage…highly recommend giving it a try!

Seeking clarity has been on my mind as of late and believe it or not, giving our home a deep clean does wonders to my mental state! Clearing out our summer garden was the first thing that got done then, I worked my way in. I feel that when the outdoor spaces are taken care of, the rest seamless! Plus it’s less of an eye sore when I look out! I reorganised our closets and brought out more of fall/winter wear and took the opportunity and did a little de-cluterring and purging around our home while I was at it…CLARITY was much needed! Although I dread beginning such a daunting task, its post-effect work for! I love the layers of warmth and comfort that this season brings at home. I make it a point so that each space of our home feels cosy and welcoming. Ever since I became a mom it was always much intention to make our home feel like a sanctuary; the backdrop to family memories. Not to toot my own horn or anything but I think I’m doing pretty good!

Plans

Home | As the merriest month of the year is upon us, decorating our home will the highlight of our plans! I’m really in the mood to go all of this year with fairy lights, garland over door frames, a small tree in our kitchen…festive Christmas decor peppered around our home!

Work | I’m putting together gift guides and posts for the holiday season. I’ve been also toying with the idea of a Substack newsletter, calling it “The Art of Sundays”. I haven’t quite figured out its direction but I’m curious to see where it leads me just for the sheer fun of it! So, sign up here if you’re interested!
