Evergreen trees. Twinkling lights. Wreaths. Red, green, gold, silver, blue…. Nutcrackers. Plaid pyjamas. Hot chocolate. Baked goods.  The month of Christmas sets the mood!

When Georgio was around 3-4 years old, he started to get really excited about Christmas—it was a trurning point for me! I put all my energy, love and excitement in it! I remember that year buying the most perfect faux Christmas tree that we have to this day. The moment they brought it to our house, Georgie and I were so so excited! I’m happy to say that the excitement still exists from then!

We usually put our Christmas tree up the last weekend of November. Paris does all the heavy lifting—getting our tree out and putting it up….it isn’t his favourite thing but he doesn’t complain. He sees our smiles!

This year, Georgio wanted full control and what was put on the tree. “Just Christmas baubles mom! Nothing else!” Got lots of dirty looks—he knows I love different things on our tree. ha ha ha! Seeing his excitement of taking full control made me smile and writing it here, it still does! He was so happy! And you know what.…..I love our tree! He did such a good job—with a few mom tweaks! 😊

Last month I gave you guys a little update on how Georgie was doing in high school—happy to report that an assistant teacher has come and is helping organise things a bit with notes….just in time for exams! 😬 I’ve said this many many times and I’ll say it again—we’re really proud of him! I’m not saying that everything is easy or perfect—cause it’s not! But we try to stay positive and just keep going! I remind myself of all those milestones that he has achieved and we couldn’t be prouder! I believe that when you give your child (and yourself) love, time and patience, everything slowly but surely comes together.

December’s Wish List

I like to make a mental list of things that I want to do….so, first things first, I’m looking forward to Christmas Break! No running around with school or after school activities….home, strolls and baked goods! Really enjoy being in the kitchen! Found some really nice baked good recipes that I’m planning on making!

First thing on my list, Ambitious Kitchen’s cinnamon rolls —this is by far the best recipe! Made this last year for my guys—huge success! Martha Stewart’s gingerbread cookies and I’m going to try this new recipe from Half Baked Harvest—Brown Sugar Maple Ginger Cookies…..sounds delish!! She has some great recipes that I’ll be making.

Another thing we all look forward to is movie nights! We roll out all the classic Christmas movies and all of Georgie’s favourites! It’s the highlight of the season! We  always start off with National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.

The Polar Express, Home Alone (every single one),  The Holiday (my all time fav!), Serendipity, The Family Man, The Christmas Chronicles on Netflix……and the list goes on and on! We usually watch the more “family” movies in the evenings when Paris is back from work—I watch those more “sentimental” movies in the afternoons when my guys are doing their own thing!

Personal Note

I’ve been navigating through many different things recently. I’m trying to process my thoughts and ideas of how much my blog means to me and what I intend on doing with my space here. It’s scary and exciting! I want the things that I love and the things I’m inspired by to be perceived in the way I see it—I’m still trying to figure it out! 😊 I have come to realise that organising our home and different spaces in general have given me some clarity and I think it’s something I’m going to be doing a bit everywhere….social media, emails, pics from my photo, that catch all drawer in my kitchen (ha ha ha!)…..a mini clean up!

I hope we have a beautiful month! Gentle reminder—do more of the things that bring you joy! Find that peace that calms the soul! The small stuff are the things that matter the most! Be grateful! Pray! Tell people what they mean to you! Be kind! Smile! It’s the most wonderful time of the year!
