“Winter is a time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it’s the time for the home.” ~Edith Sitwell

Hello! I woke this morning feeling much relaxed and rested. A good night’s sleep does wonders! Having been away for two weeks, I wanted to do something special for my guys so, I made them one of their favourite meals…brunch! St-Viateur’s bagels being the highlight of our brunch with cream cheese, salmon, capers, some scrambled eggs, French toast and freshly brewed coffee. Spoiled them! I’ve been away from my laptop this last month as my mom underwent a major surgery and we found ourselves dealing with lots of unexpected emotional turmoil after my mom had her surgery. I couldn’t focus on anything other than praying that she makes it through and has a steady recovery. Unable to do anything more for her while she was in the hospital, I told my family that I’d fly to Montreal to help them out once she was released. The purpose of my trip was to mostly be at home with my mom making sure she was eating well, taking her to appointments and helping her regain her strength day by day. I can happily say that in my two weeks there she found her rhythms again and she’s doing well! Hanging out with my sisters and all my nieces and nephews during my stay moved my heart. I really missed just being with them on those typical mundane days just sitting around, having coffee and chatting. I love that when we’re together it’s like no time has passed. It’s always a bittersweet feeling. Thank goodness for FaceTime!

Once I unpacked and sorted a few things around the house, I had to put up our Christmas tree! Instant mood setter! I’m looking forward to leaning more into the holiday merriment of the season! The revel of the holiday season, the baking and the gathering…but it’s also the quietude and the warmth of the season…slow mornings and evenings at home curled up on the sofa with a good book, watching an afternoon movie, cosy knits and candles.

Things I’m looking forward to…

Christmas movie nights—National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation and Home Alone are at the top of our list! On days when my guys are off doing their own thing, I have a list of my own! The Holiday, The Family StoneSerendipity and The Family Man.

Baking—Ambitious Kitchen’s Cinnamon Roll recipe is my absolute favourite! I highly recommend it! Definitely will be making this Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Frosting and Martha Stewart’s Gingerbread cookies.

Cosy Plaid Pyjamas

Fresh Evergreen Arrangements

Intimate gatherings

Hot Chocolate & Pastries with friends

Glammed up date nights—the holiday season calls for a little extra!

Documenting moments and making memories with people that I love ❣️
