When the weather turns warm and our al fresco evenings come to life, I always find myself reaching for a spritz! It all began from our trip in Rome on a warm summer evening in a quiet piazza when I stumbled upon ‘Limoncello Spritz’ on the menu. One sip and I was instantly captivated!

From that point on, our evenings in Rome were defined by pasta and limoncello spritzes! Before flying home, I found myself lingering at  Leonardo da Vinci airport, face to face with shelves of limoncello. Naturally, I brought a couple of bottles back with me.

The limoncello spritz has become a little ritual of our al fresco evenings at home—bright, citrusy and utterly refreshing! So much so, I started making my own limoncello—peeling lemons from our garden, steeping the zest in vodka and waiting patiently for the flavours to infuse.

Made with chilled limoncello, sparkling wine, a dash of soda water and served over ice, it’s finished with a simple garnish: a lemon slice or a sprig of mint. The perfect balance between sweet and zesty! It’s the kind of beverage that doesn’t ask for attention but quietly becomes the highlight of an evening!

Whether you’re by the sea, on a sun-dappled balcony or just dreaming of Italy from your backyard—this spritz brings a little Mediterranean magic wherever you are!
