Chiesa del Santissimo Nome di Maria al Foro Traino
You know a place has had a profound effect on you when you experience your first post-trip blues! Our trip to Rome was a dream! Emerging ourselves into the culture, the sights and sounds of the daily and completely loosing ourselves in the Rome’s characteristic alleys was our intention for our trip—the Eternal City did not fail to deliver!
Landing in Rome at lunchtime was most idyllic! It gave us ample of time to get to our apartment without the feeling of the day slipping away from us. From the airport, we needed to get to the Termini and then to our apartment. Making our way to the ticket office, we were approached by a private shuttle that offered their services. An easy 30-40 minute ride from the airport to our apartment at a flat rate of forty-five euros set our trip off to a good start!
We lucked out with a beautiful apartment in the charming neighbourhood of Monti. Our quaint neighbourhood with its lush trees, bougainvilleas, beautiful streets and buildings had me in awe the entire time! Our host, Mr Pietro, was the most kind, helpful person you’ll ever meet! Upon our arrival, he took the time to show us the different neighbourhoods on a map of central Rome along with his very own personal list of recommendations which were top notch—our very own personal guide! As per Mr Pietro’s advice, there is so much to do and see in Rome that a lifetime is not enough! Organising our days according to the sights we wanted to see was the way to go.
Once we settled in, we headed out and did a little neighbourhood exploring. Via Merulana was one of the main streets in our area with nice cafes, restaurants and cute little shops. Panella was our morning place for espresso and fresh delicious Italian pastries. Every morning they’d be a different selection of fresh pastries for the taking! Ristorante da Nino another place in our quaint neighbourhood cannot say enough good things about…nostalgic intimate atmosphere, delightful little terrace and the food absolutely delicious! Its where spaghetti cacio e pepe and I had our very first moment! Last but not least, visit Santa Maria Maggiore, one of Rome’s major basilicas will surely take your breath away!
