Coming off that festive high can be a real bummer! Once all the festive decor is packed up there is the lingering sense of “what now?”. Winter Blues? Probably. So in the event of finding the silver lining to situations and as I mentioned in my post—it’s all about changing our perspective and creating those ‘feel good’ emotions in the winter months!

With school, after school activities, dogs, home, work….the idea of “getting away” isn’t something feasible during this time. So I’m sharing some of the things that get us ‘through’ this slump!

Date Night, Family Night, Brunch….whatever lifts your spirit…put it on your schedule! Friday night is pizza and movie night and it’s something we look forward to! By the time we decide on which movie to watch half the pizza is gone, ha ha ha….nevertheless we enjoy it!

Treat Yourself! As I mentioned here, taking care of yourself and doing the things that help to feel good (without any guilts!) is so important! Massage, facial…going out on your own and grabbing a coffee it might be just what you need! Set up a moment/time for yourself, it’ll do you the world of good!

Eat Healthy (without any effort)—I do enjoy cooking for my family and I cook every day but what about the rest of the day? So….I fill my pantry with healthy snacks—dates, nuts, fruit. I like smoothies so that’s super easy to make and fast. I usually have something prepared in advance like a soup! I like opening my fridge and just putting something together! Simple changes in food can really boost your mood!

Create a Brighter environment  during the colder months it’s the cosiness that I love so much! In the mornings, I open shutters and pull curtains aside so light comes in, even on gloomy days. In the evenings, table lamps with warm lights are what I love! I have even put a table lamp on my kitchen counter—what a game changer! Made the space much more welcoming!

Candles—Spending more time indoors in the winter months (and due to the events that are out of our control!), it’s important to feel calm and relaxed at home. It’s been a goal of mine ever since Georgios was little—calm spaces….I call it “sleep mode”. My kid is really into it now and once the sun goes down, he’s the one turning on all the table lamps! An addition to this habits, the scent of a candle and the flicking of its flame enhances my mood in some way….

I hope this little changes are of some help! Before we know it, it’ll be alfresco dining and garden hangs!
