“Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.“
Autumn has a way of igniting something in me. It’s the season that calls for home. A familiar return to things and routines—loafers and jeans. Knits. Cosy socks. Soft hair. Double cappuccino coffee dates. Soups. Soft lighting in the evenings. Reading in bed. Quintessential rom-coms. A gorgeous red wine on the balcony just when the light turns golden.
But I like to think of this season as a time for fresh things as well. A moment to reassess. To gather. Whether it’s new notebooks, fresh goals, or simply the urge to begin again—the sentiment it carries is just like what F. Scott Fitzgerald said, life does feel like it starts all over come fall.
As of late
These past couple of weeks have felt like a whirlwind. School has only been back a month and it has already taken us down with runny noses, body aches and sore throats. I heard on a podcast that grating ginger (about the size of your thumb) with Ceylon cinnamon in warm water is the absolute best for a cold, and they were right! It has an intensity of warmth, but you immediately feel better. Now I make a cup every evening.
Georgios had his wisdom teeth removed last week (two more to go!) and there have been more trips to his school than I’d like, but I humble myself and thank God for these kinds of problems. There is a lesson in every situation and how we carry ourselves speak more of us than we know.
On a more uplifting note, I got some things done in our kitchen before school started and it made the whole sick-week stretch feel more manageable. A little declutter, some reorganising and a space for everything. I’ll be sharing a post on my kitchen edit soon.
It’s finally starting to feel like fall in southern Greece, and now that I’m feeling better, I’m moving from room to room, storing away summer pieces and bringing more cosiness forward. I’ve already made a few purchases—ballerina flats, dark denim jeans, new tees and some red the season.
Fresh home updates are in the works too. I’m hoping to get the rest of the house painted in the same creamy white we used in the kitchen and Georgios’s room last year. I think I may have found the perfect colourway for our home.
In other news, our country home is in need of updates. Over the years, I’ve been creating a vibe in our current home that we’ll carry with us when we move there, and we’ve reached the point where certain updates are needed for its upkeep. I’ll be sharing my thought process along the way.
If you’d like to follow along, my Substack newsletter is where I share the more personal, in-the moment thoughts. My ShopMy and LTK are where I’m gathering the fall pieces, home finds, and kitchen favourites I’m loving right now, all in one place.
On my mind
I talk a lot about God in my daily life. People have told me that my content makes them feel something, and that’s exactly how I want it to be perceived.
I was raised in an Orthodox family. But it wasn’t until 2020 that something awakened in me. God placed the idea of creating my blog space on my heart, and I’ve let my fears and insecurities get the best of me. In January, I wrote a post, The Creative Pulse, about the very thing that drives my creative process, and somehow I forgot about it. So, things will be moving in an entirely new direction.
I hope you’ll stay and follow along. Wishing you a lovely week ahead—looking forward to chatting more this week! x
